As we enter into a quiet August where Congress pats themselves on the back for increasing the debt limit and takes their Summer vacation I would point out they have still not passed th 2012 budget.
The Senate majority leader, in his speech today, seemed to indicate he still does not understand the push for smaller Government, when he pointed out the soon-to-be formed bi-partisan committee MUST come up with new revenue or cuts to the military budget would occur. I don't think cuts to the military would necessarily be a bad thing if we could make reasonable trades. I also agree with analysts that the freshman congressman, elected to reduce spending don't hold the DoD budget as sacred, like the Bush Republicans.
In that same speech, the honorable Senator from Nevada said job creation was the #1 job of Congress. Again reflecting a belief that without massive Government involvement, through spending, America can't move forward. At the same time he's saying this the Department of Transportation wants to put new regulations on farmers driving their trucks on public roads.
