When I was young, a time long ago and in a galaxy far way, we had an expression that spoke of seeing the world “through rose color glasses.” The implication was you saw everything with an optimistic view, and everything was a brighter color than the reality. It was a nice idiom that puts aside the ugliness that may be hidden – in favor of pleasing views and memories.
In looking at the broadcast and internet channels I think the market for rose color glasses crashed and we are now looking at the world through some other, much darker, color lenses. There are also quite a few who actually seem to be looking at the world with their eyes shut tight – to totally block out any chance a glimmer of reality might seep in.
We now have #movements seeking to guide those who are paying attention to the best color on the color wheel. In this way, followers can be assured they have the correct political, ethical, and moral views of the society as #movements push to abandon the traditional political, ethical and moral values of yesterday’s society.
What has this past week taught us about the world around us? The world is certainly not painted in black and white.
