This lame duck Congress is
bound to be interesting. As the
Honorable Ms. Landrieu struggles for her political life, she is now forcing the
Keystone XL pipeline issue to the forefront.
Up until now her party had been playing a stalling game in the
Senate. To avoid forcing the President
to make a choice between jobs and his stance on the environment they’ve buried
the legislation, but now that yet another of their Senate seats are at risk it
seems their environmental concerns or need for the President’s approval aren’t so great. I suspect there will be much more on this,
but Ms. Landrieu needs them to move at a speed the Senate has not seen in a
very long time.
